An IRS Online Account is an online system that allows you to securely access your individual tax account information. It is a safe and easy way to view specific details about your federal tax account.
Register for an Online Services Account
To access your information online, you must register through Secure Access, the IRS' two-factor authentication process that protects your personal information. When you register for online services, you are asked to verify your identity so no one else can access your account. It takes about 15 minutes to register. What You Can View
The total amount you owe, including balance details by year
Details for any federal tax liability associated with your individual account such as income tax owed on your Form 1040; additional tax owed on your Form 5329, Additional Taxes on Qualified Plans (Including IRAs) and Other Tax-Favored Accounts; Shared Responsibility Payment (for tax years 2014 to 2018), and Trust Fund Recovery Penalty
Your payment history and any scheduled or pending payments
Payment plan details if you have one; including the type of plan you have, due date(s) and payment amount(s)
Payoff amount, updated for the current day
Key information from your most current tax return as originally filed
Digital copies of select IRS notices
Economic Impact Payments if you received any
Your address on file
Authorization requests from tax professionals
Your balance will update no more than once every 24 hours, usually overnight. You should also allow 1 to 3 weeks for payments to show up in the payment history.

New Authorization Feature
The new "authorization" option in Online Account lets you control who can represent you before the IRS or view your tax records. You can also approve and electronically sign Power of Attorney and Tax Information Authorization requests from your tax professional.
