Seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 281,000, a decrease of 10,000 from the prior week's revised level, during the week ending October 23. This is the lowest level of initial claims since March 14, 2020, when it was 256,000.
The previous week's level was revised up from 290,000 to 291,000, and the 4-week moving average was 299,250, a decrease of 20,750 from the previous week's revised average., which is the lowest level for this average since March 14, 2020 when it was 225,500.
The previous week's average was revised from 319,750 to 320,000.
